We have had a lot of esignature customers and prospects request data centers outside the U.S. and, more specifically, in Canada. While our technology has always enabled legally binding electronic signatures on all continents, we’re happy to announce today that we will be adding to our points-of-presence data centers in Canada.
If you are in Canada or anywhere else outside the U.S. and need more information about the availability of our Canadian data centers, please contact us for a complete review of your needs and our new capabilities.
Our data centers in the continental U.S. offer a complete and secure solution for all our esignature clients. However, outside of the U.S., there are different legal and social paradigms around the privacy of data, data availability, etc. If data is stored in the U.S., the U.S. Federal Government has the authority to request that U.S. data center operators share certain data for the purposes of Homeland Security investigations. Companies with clients who are not based in the U.S. have the option to store those clients’ data outside the U.S., and Canada presents a great option for doing so.
Specifically for our clients and future clients located in Canada, there are some distinct advantages of storing your data within Canada. Those advantages include:
Increased speed – even though data travels (literally) at the speed of light over the internet, every switch and router between you and the physical location of the data increases the time that it takes for the data to be transmitted over the web. If you’re in Canada, your data will move all that much quicker for you and your customers.
Improved customer experience – because of the improved speed based on the location of our new data centers, your customers will enjoy a better experience.
Simplified onboarding – if your organization or your client has any specific rules, guidelines, or even restrictions around the location of data, we’ve just removed one possible hurdle in onboarding these new clients.
Local data – all the data associated with an esignature transaction is located and maintained within the Canadian border.
AssureSign has been legally binding electronic signatures in Canada from the beginning because we are, and have always been, compliant with Canadian esignature law. As we open these new data centers, all applications and documents can now be 100% hosted in Canada.
